"Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too (or should I say, who says you can’t have French toast and strudel all at once?)? Today, we’re taking the classic combination of apple strudel and creamy goodness and giving it a delightful breakfast twist. Say hello to Quokkorrgi’s Creamy Apple Strudel French Toast!
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread ( Challah or brioche work wonders)
- 2-3 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Confectioner’s sugar for dusting
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Dip each bread slice into the melted butter, then coat with cream cheese mixture (see note).
- Place the French toast slices in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, mix the sliced apples with cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- Assemble the strudel French toast by placing two slices of cooked bread, topped with apple mixture, on a serving plate.
- Drizzle with maple syrup (optional) and dust with confectioner’s sugar.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Note: For the cream cheese mixture, mix softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
